Neglect

Yes, I'm guilty!! I've neglected my poor blog! I honestly don't know how July got here....it was just April right?? Maybe it has something to do with me joining one too many committees here in town.....Braves Boosters & 3 French Hens. It may be the fact that I am my daughter's personal assitant, running her around to practices and various outings and parties. Maybe it's coaching the cheerleading squad or trying to keep up with orders or my new addiction, FaceBook? In any case, I'm still here and have not fallen off the face of the earth, ha ha!

I did manage to squeeze a vacation in and it was soooo nice. Kurt has to fly out to San Diego every month, so this time he took his girls (and a couple extras) along with him. It felt wierd not having an agenda or anything that had to be done....just relaxing. The girls managed to occupy themselves with searching for "surfer boys"......but truly only finding other boys on vacation...too cute!
3 French Hens, (Monica, Traci & I), managed to pull off our towns first ever French Country Market. It was so much work, but so worth it!! We had great weather and an even better turnout. All the vendors were so excited and can't wait until the next show (which is this weekend, July 11th)
The "Hens" had 1000 goodie bags to hand out to customers....and there wasn't 1 left at the end of the day.

Kurt and I also purchased a new "toy" for our growing business. It's a "Direct to Garment" machine. It will print full color onto fabric.

So here are some of the new items you will find in my Etsy shop. I'm working on designs for all of our French Markets here in town. Each month has a different theme

This month is Cirque D'Summer.

The model works for room & board!! Ha ha!
Oh, can you imagine the possibilities with this machine?!! My mind won't shut off....I'm constantly thinking of things that could be turned into t-shirt designs.....and that's just one avenue!! I've even heard of people printing on Converse tennies....so cool!!!

So, that's what has been going on around here lately. Now I'm off to say, "Hi" and check on all my friends out here in blogland.....that is, if you still remember me!!
Toodles!!

Happy Easter!

Instead of coloring eggs this year, the Haupt family decided to color cupcakes...YUM!! (notice the sweet little chick from my egg swap partner Jeanne. He made a perfect cake topper!!)

Even Dad got in on the fun!!

The table was set with some of my most favorite dishes that have been collected from flea markets, garage sales and antique shops.
A few paper cones hanging with hidden treats for our guests.

Oooh...and a yummy chocolate egg from Dan's Candies in Joliet. It's filled with even more chocolate treats inside!!!

It was such a beautiful and relaxing day. We all went for a walk after lunch and enjoyed all the little flowers that are starting to peek out of the ground.....even saw the Easter Bunny himself!! Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Spring Break in Chicago

The weather is finally starting to warm up around here...well, 55 degrees feels pretty warm to us in the Northern part of Illinois.......so we decided to take Kayla and her friend Carly into Chicago to do a little shopping, have lunch and basically just wander around. We walked over to Lincoln Park Zoo. I just fell in love with this carousel...isn't it gorgeous?!!

So much work went into each of these animals.

Here's a shot of the Water Tower on Michigan Ave. Isn't it a pretty building!! By the way, the girls have no problem posing in front of anything...ha ha....teenagers!!

A little something yummy to finish up the day at Giardellis.....trust me, not a drop was left!!!
Well, I would have liked to have gotten a lot more pictures, but the darn camera was giving me problems. I guess it's time for a new one. Hope you are enjoying spring where ever you are.

French Flea Market Fun!!

Introducing.....3 French Hens!!!I'm so excited to finally share this news with everyone. For the past few months, my dear friends Monica, from Ruby Begonias, and Traci, from Whimsy & I have been getting together to plan out our towns first ever French Flea Market. It's been a lot of work, but it's going to be so worth it all!!
It's going to take place along the historic I & M Canal here in downtown Morris. It's really a very sweet park area, especially when the trees are full and the flowers are blooming.

So, once a month you can stroll down to the Canal Port and purchase some fresh flowers, baked goods, an antique or two, some beautiful artwork by local artisans and fresh produce when it's in season.
Every month will have a theme as well. Our first Market will take place on June 27th during our towns annual Nostalgia Days, so the theme is pretty much a given...Nostalgia along the Canal Port.

The months to follow are:
July 11 - Cirque D' Summer
August 8 - Curious Mermaid Market
September 12 - A Bewitching Evening Under the Stars (an evening market)
October 10 - Market Finale

You can also take a look at our 3 French Hens Blog to learn more about upcoming events.

If you're interested in a booth space please let me know....we would love to have you!! If you're stopping by at one of the Markets, please come say, "Hi" to me!!! If you've ever been to a French Flea Market I would love to here what some of your favorite things were about it.
Off to do some more planning!!!!
XOXO

Viv's Easter Egg Hunt Swap

That Viv sure knows how to throw a super fun swap! All the participants were supposed to make 2 eggs and send them off to Viv. Then she scrambled them up and sent them off to two different people. The fun part is that we have to hop around from blog to blog and try to find out who made the ones we received and who received ours. Here are the eggs I made...the extra one was for Vivian. I have to admit that this swap was quite challenging for me....I was just stumped on what to make. I finally found these clear front, acrylic eggs that I lined the inside with vintage chenille. I had these antique photos of a couple sweet little babies that I thought would make cute chickies....so I added some feathers, glitter and a little pink paper shredded nest. They all read "Tweetie Pie".

Here are the two eggs that I received. The first one was made by Jeanne. Oh, how I adore it!! It is the most beautiful shade of blue!!!

There was even a surprise inside.....this sweet little chickie with a paper crown. I love it sooo much!!

My other egg came all the way from Stefanie in Germany. I just love the colors (especially since my favorite color is pink!!) and the trims are so sweet...it looks so cute hanging on my inspiration board.

Well, now I'm off to find out who received my eggs and look at all the other gorgeous eggs!!

XOXO

Something New

Yay! I finally got my computer fixed (thanks to the super hero hubby). Oh, it got a terrible virus and it would block me out of EVERYTHING...so frustrating!!! I never realized how much I would miss having it.

So, I know everyone has got Spring Fever...with all it's beautiful, pastel colors and such. Of course they are some of my favorite colors too, but for some reason I had this vision in my head that I just couldn't wait to put together. It was gonna bug me until I just got on with it and created it. Ever happen to you??

I've only created my dolls from fabric in the past. Here's one that I had made for a customer recently.

I've always admired all the papier mache creations that I come across and I just had to try one of my own. First, I found this at Ruby Begonia's.
Then, I found this really beautiful quote....."Just like the butterfly, I too will awaken in my own time".
I painted a few butterflies........
and created a papier mache head and some wire wings.......
and there you have it....a butterfly faerie.
It was so much fun that I created a couple more dolls that I'm thinking I may mount onto wooden plaques much like the doll in first picture of this post.
Since it's "spring break" around here, the Haupt family is heading off to Chicago today for some shopping, a little lunch and, well, just a day off! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to share with you all....have a great day!!
XOXO
